In 2007: Gressick played for both Dayton and (High A) Sarasota. At Dayton, spending time as a starter and reliever, he was fourth on the team with 90.0 innings pitched and compiled a 5-8 record and 4.30 ERA, while striking out 82 batters. He also allowed less then a hit per inning pitched. For both teams, he combined to go 5-8 with a 4.84 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 96.2 innings. Gressick finished the season strong, going 3-2 with a 1.61 ERA over his last ten (10) outings, while striking out 39 in just over 44 innings while allowing only 30 hits. Career Highlights Gressick was selected in the 26th round of the 2006 Amateur Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. He finished off a strong professional debut by being tied for the Pioneer League Lead with 6 wins while throwing for Billings. For the year, Gressick went 6-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 14 Games Started to go along with 44 punch-outs. A two-way player for Ohio University, Gressick was drafted as a pitcher by the Reds. The right-handed hurler was also a standout at the plate as well as on the hill for the Bobcats during his four-year career that concluded after the 2006 season. As a pitcher, Gressick recorded a career 4.09 ERA in 21 starts and 37 appearances with a 10-6 record. He led the Mid-American Conference with a 2.76 ERA as a junior in 2005 when he limited opponents to a .268 batting average and recorded two complete games. As a senior this past season Gressick finished 4-1 with a 4.47 ERA and recorded 49 strikeouts in 54 1-3 innings pitched. A 2006 All-MAC selection as a designated hitter, Gressick finished his career at the plate ranked third on Ohio's all-time list with 36 home runs, fourth with 384 total bases, fifth with 44 doubles, sixth with 228 hits and sixth with 157 RBIs. After leading Ohio in eight-different offensive categories in 2006, he became the first Bobcat since 1979 to earn three-straight All-MAC First Team selections. |
