Nevarez was chosen in the 10th round of the 2005 MLB amateur draft by the Texas Rangers right out of San Fernando High School (CA). He proved he could make the transition from HS to the pro ball by starting off his career with the Arizona Rangers at the Rookie ball level. At the age of 18, he went 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA pitching in 10 games and starting 3. He also pitched 28 innings with 24 strikeouts and compiled a 1.11 WHIP. |
