In 2007: In his first pro season with the Staten Island Yankees as a starting outfielder, Williams posted solid numbers with a .276 BA, 25 runs, 12 doubles, 19 RBI’s, 7 SB’s, .353 OBP, .330 SLG, and .684 OPS. His 61 hits and 21 walks were fourth on the Yankees squad. He played stellar defense in the outfield for the Yank’s, allowing only 1 error in 64 games.

Career Highlights:  Williams was selected in the 15th round of the 2007 MLB draft by the New York Yankees. He finished up an impressive career at Rutgers, leading the BIG EAST and finishing 17th in the nation with a .412 batting average. His 94 hits place him fourth in Rutgers history for most hits in a season. Playing in 60 games and batting in the cleanup spot, he stole 10 bases and smacked 19 doubles and 5 homeruns. As the starting right fielder, he provided seven assists. At the conclusion of the season, he was named to the First Team All-BIG EAST and was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team.

In 2006, Williams was selected in the 36th round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Florida Marlins, even after missing the majority of his season with a wrist injury. In only 15 games and 51 AB’s, he posted a .314 average with 16 hits, 12 runs, 4 doubles, 2 homeruns, 10 RBI’s, .400 OBP, .510 SLG and a .910 OPS.

In 2005, Williams was selected in the 25th round of the 2005 MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. In his third season at Rutgers and first as a starter, he compiled a .312 average in 154 AB’s with 48 hits, 32 runs, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 6 homeruns, 32 RBI’s, 4 SB, .513 SLG and .905 OPS.
