BALCOM PLAYS IN MLB SPRING TRAINING GAME FOR THE CUBS |

DALLAS, TEXAS – (March 23, 2005) – Sports Pro Services (SPS) client Jasha Balcom collected one hit in one official at bat in today’s MLB Spring Training game between the Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Balcom also reached on a Walk and had a Run scored. The Cubs won the Cactus League Exhibition 11-6. |

Balcom was drafted by the Cubs during the 2003 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft out of the University of Georgia. He spent his first two collegiate seasons playing for the College of Charleston, where he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He started all 52 games that season for the Cougars and batted .322 which tied the school record for highest batting average by a freshman. Balcom spent his junior season playing for the University of Georgia of the SEC. In his final collegiate season, Balcom led the Bulldogs in walks with 24 and was third in the team with 7 stolen bases. |

Balcom spent last season playing for the Chicago Cubs affiliate the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League. He hit .278 in 60 games for the Hawks, while scoring 37 runs and knocking in another 24. Balcom committed only one error all season in the field. |
