Even though the NCAA prohibits a high school or collegiate player from using an agent, the athlete may utilize an advisor to guide him through the collegiate selection process, as well as through the events leading up to and during the Major League Baseball Draft.

SPS provides these amateur athletes and families with the guidance and advice based solely on the best interest of the respective prospect. By utilizing the services provided by SPS, the player’s exposure and progress will be elevated, and their positioning within the draft ultimately augmented and better leveraged.

We realize that the decisions’ an athlete and his family make during his draft year(s) will have both an immediate and lifelong impact. We play an active role by providing the facts, analysis and expertise necessary to allow you to make these important decisions on an informed basis.

As an advisor our primary responsibilities to you and your family are to ensure that all bases are covered during your communication with pro teams and universities as well as providing continual consultation regarding your draft status and value. Our job is to ultimately act as a facilitator and consultant during this important and exciting time. The primary services are the following:

  • Provide pre-draft expertise, analysis and facts
  • Elevate Player Exposure
  • Increase Player Leverage
  • Ensure effective and productive dialogue and communication with team personnel
  • Enhance Player draft status and stock
  • Consult on the negotiation and execution of the contract offer

A comment from Jerry Crasnick of ESPN Insider regarding a question about advisors:

“I talked to a lot of parents while doing my book and most of them said it was very helpful to have an adviser during the draft process. The draft is a stressful time for families, and it's tough to deal with all those scouts, the rumors, preparing for the draft, etc. Even people with teams tell me that they'd rather deal with an agent, or adviser, in many cases, because it removes the emotion from the process.”
